ROB WARNER MEETS THE 19 YEAR OLD MOUNTAIN BIKER FINN ILES FROM JUNIOR LEAGUE MOUNTAIN BIKING!

From Junior League Mountain Biking, Finn Iles, a 19-year old mountain biker will be moving to the big league. Accordingly, for what most riders enter the freight of an elite downhill racing their story starts in the junior class, and in 2017, a young Canadian, Finn Iles was its star pupil who took the over all junior world cup title in spectacular fashion winning every race.  But some say Finn might be the best ever to come up from that category. And now it’s time for Finn to face the biggest challenge as Finn enters the elite ranks. Rob Warner travels to Finn’s home in Whistler, British Colombia where he lives with his parents and his brother Jack to know how Finn feels about this huge leap.

” So you really dominated in the junior category, you are the biggest news ever to go into elite from the juniors. What do you feel here and what was the weight of expectation like on you?”- Rob Warner

Rob and Finn discussing about Finn’s career at 1:40

“It doesn’t feel like it’s too bad right now. I feel like I just gotta take it in straight and I’m moving up the category as I’ve always done in my racing career.”

According to Finn, he is a super competitive person and he feels like being in the game with other elite riders would bring out more the competitiveness out of him. Finn looked up to Loic Bruni, a current world champion and twice a word champion, and Finn aspire to be like him.

” I’ve kind of like comparing mu junior to him and  we’re kind of having a competition…When he moved into the elite he stepped up, and I like to do that but I can’t be just trying to follow what he does.”- Finn Iles

Finns family is also one of his influence especially that Finn grew up riding with Jack and that makes  him pushed trying to be better than Jack and having him which is also competitive, just  pushed Finn a lot to become a better athlete.

” Another thing that makes him good is the mental side of things rightly…his mentality for racing and training is so set” Jack Iles, Finn’s Brother

According to Finn’s mom, skiing was Finns thing before doing mountain biking. As a ski racer, Finn was really successful. Finn was the best in BC and the best racer in Canada. He quit skiing because of mountain biking.

” It was an overnight decision. He came home and he’s like I’m gonna be a mountain biker , I don’t think I’m gonna be a skier. It was sad to let it go but he was so successful so quickly that it was the right decision without a doubt.”- Ellison Iles, Finn’s mom

Afterwards, Finn and Rob does mountain biking in Squamish, British Colombia.

” That is an amazing trailer in an amazing set, I feel really jealous of where you lived.”-Rob Warner

Rob also kidded about Finn beating Loic Bruni at the world championship.

” I’ve already beaten him this year, so just try and keep on going.”-Finn Iles
