We all know Max Stöckl is a world speed record holder, so this time he’s gonna take the Hahnenkamm downhill course! The 43-year-old from Oberndorf is used to breaking speed records on a mountain bike and in this video, he rode down a 3312 metre piste with a spine-chilling 27% average gradient. After hitting a top speed of 167.6km/h in Chile’s Atacama desert last year, he was ready again to a take on a new challenge becasuse only professional skiers can make it down here.

“Racing down a straight icy hill is a totally different thing to anything else I have done. It definitely reached and exceeded my expectations. It was more fun than I thought it would be. Coming down the final shoot and jump was a great rush.” -Max Stockl
“The only thing that’s different is the screws on the bike and I got a mudguard made, I don’t ride downhill mountain bikes with special parts. It has to be a bike — not a motorbike without an engine.” – Max Stockl
